On July 5, 2019 I saw a video for the Angels and Entrepreneurs Network. The video had one person that I'm familiar with, and his name is Robert Herjavec. I've seen him on a TV show called Shark Tank. The Shark Tank show is very interesting as people pitch their products and try to get an investment from the sharks. Robert Herjavec is one of those sharks. The other main person in the video is a man named Neil Patel, and I am unfamiliar with him.
I thought for sure that it must be legitimate because Robert Herjavec was in the video promoting this product. If I had just seen Neil Patel in a video, I may not have paid any attention to it. The video that they were in talked about how you can become an angel investor in companies before they go public. They talk about how you can make more money here than by any IPO because sometimes they pay 1000% to 500,000% or more and say that you could never do that with an IPO. The video kinda sucks you in with these big numbers and makes you want to watch it to the end. I did watch it till the end.
Through the years that I have watched shark tank with Robert Herjavec, he was the one shark that seemed the most sincere to his word. And I would've guessed that he would be the last person to really take advantage of the small guy with any false or misleading information. So after watching the video I decided to give it a try.
I put my personal information in and they showed me only three purchasing options. I chose the product that was labeled "DIAMOND LEVEL-BEST DEAL". Well, with only three options and one is labeled best deal, I thought what could be better than best deal? The answer should be nothing. It was $79.00. I got my credit card and fed the numbers into the box, put in my expiration date and a CVV number and I was ready to go. It was kind of exciting hitting the order now button. After all, watching the video made it seem like there would be all kinds of money to be made. As soon as I hit order now, a video came up with the two of them thanking me for joining and letting me know that I was now a founder. That was exciting too.
Then another video opened up. This new video said if I wanted to become an elite member I could pay them over $1000 to do so. I'm not sure the exact dollar number. Heck I had just given them my money to join and the first thing that comes up is another video saying if I want the good deals you then I would have to pay more money. Sounds like bait and switch to me. I also noticed that Robert Herjavec completely disappeared from the program. I don't see him anywhere in here. I clicked "no thanks" to paying $1000.00 or more for a higher status as I had just given them my money only seconds before.
I got an email from the Angels and entrepreneurs network welcoming me. And it said that there's great news that I already have access to the first deals on our members website. So I went to the website and created my profile and I wanted to go look to see what these great deals/companies could possibly be.
The first three businesses that they showed me that I can invest in were: 1. An app that can get you a free appetizer a day at restaurants, 2. A food media company that makes small kitchen appliances, and 3. An advertising company that puts brand sponsored stuff on reusable batteries for cell phones that you can get for free at certain venues.
The free appetizer thing sounds like a coupon company to me, the small kitchen appliances sound like it's a company that would struggle forever because that business is dominated by some big names. Maybe the battery company has a little promise but I will have to research it first.
Then I look a little further down the the page and there are three items called exclusive deals. One is for a 456 unit two-story apartment in Florida that you can invest in but that's only for an "elite founder" and I don't qualify. The second one is for search engine optimization A.B. testing platform that helps businesses grow website traffic and I also do not qualify. These two things sound like something I could invest in. The third item is an exclusive deal for an investment platform that helps experienced online business operators purchase and scale profitable online businesses including software companies, digital media, websites .... This also sounds like something I would invest in, but sadly I am not able to unless I pay more money to become a VIP founder. I would guess that VIP founder would cost even more than the Elite founder, but I have not seen those prices at this time yet I will let you know what they are when I run across them.
It is funny that the very first thing that happened here after I ordered my product, "Best Deal" was they told me that what I chose as the best deal, really wasn't even close to the best deal.
They do offer a 60 day moneyback guarantee where you can get your money back within that time if you're not satisfied. I would guess within the 60 days some people will give up, some people will pay the outrageous extra dollars to move into the higher elite status, and some people will invest in these lower level companies and some people will ask for their money back.
They said that my business package will arrive in the mail within 2 to 4 weeks. If it is four weeks, that will be close to 30 days, so I will have 30 more days to read that over and make a decision before the satisfaction guaranteed time of 60 days runs out. As soon as they got my initial money, I went from being really excited to wondering if I just got scammed. If I told you that you picked the best deal, out of all the possible deals available, and then you paid me for it, and then I told you that there was an even better deal but it would cost you a thousand dollars or more, you would probably be very mad and disappointed and feel cheated.
They told me they would send me new businesses every month that I can invest in. I wonder if these 3 businesses that I can invest in right now are all I will see for 30 days. Then after 30 days, they do the same thing, send me 3 more less interesting opportunities that I can invest in, and three more much better sounding options that I can't invest in because they want more money. The truth right now is that the Best Deal was a lie.
Mr. Herjavec always seems like a man of integrity, class and truth. I have a hard time believing that he knows that Neil Patek's website works this way once you get in, but I could be wrong. The regular guy doesn't have an extra $1000 to $3000 to do this.
So two days into this I am disappointed just because of the bait and switch thing. I will give it some time because Mr. Herjavek endorses it. It is very unfortunate that what they told me was not the truth. I will keep an open mind as I always do but hold a small amount of skepticism for now.
I will keep you posted on my progress.
